Happy Halloween!

We had a pretty fun Halloween despite starting the day with Logan having a fever and throwing up because an empty stomach, milk and medicine didn't mix well, plus a lot of gross mucus from his cough, I know rookie move Mom. But alas he felt good enough to head out to Grandma's for a usual Halloween dinner and trick or treating. Hope everyone had lot's of treats and not to many tricks today!

Halloween pancakes to start the day!

Mario sporting his mustache today, which he loved and kept stroking and telling us how soft it was.

Just Another Saturday...

I finished up my pumpkin this morning since I crashed early last night, but the good news is that I feel so much better today, bad news Logan has another nasty cough..Boo! Don't think it will get in the way of our Halloween plans tomorrow, but still annoying for him.

Matts is on the left (Logan said Daddy could do an angry face) Logan's is in the middle and mine on the right. Ava painted the one in front of mine and Logan painted the other little one.

Matt was at work today and we just hung around since Logan is under the weather, but the good news is that the future of U.S. bobsledding is looking good...

Pretty sure this is not the intended use of the push along hippo...
Aw well she had a blast being pushed around by her brother.

Pumpkin Painting and Carving

We carved and painted pumpkins tonight. I have an awful head cold going on, but was able to get up and half way participate in the festivities. Matt de-gutted our big pumpkins this afternoon, and then we did Logan's with him so he could scoop some of the guts out, being the total boy he is, he was all dramatic about it

Then we had two little pumpkins (we somehow between buying some at the store and two trips to the pumpkin farm ended up with a lot of pumpkins this year) so Ava took the smallest and painted for the first time, which she loved (and she only tried eating the paint a handful of times...) Logan painted the other smaller pumpkin while Daddy did the rest of the scooping on his big pumpkin.

(Doesn't she look so big? Baby fever please go away...

Just about the time Logan was done painting his little pumpkin, Daddy was done with the scooping work and he and Logan sketched out the happy face Logan insisted on (no scary pumpkins in our house this year!) and Logan and Daddy got to carving!

Logan and his happy pumpkin

Matt and I will do ours tonight over a scary movie as is our tradition, I'll post pics when we get them done!

Logan's Preschool Halloween Party!

Logan had his preschool Halloween party today, he was very excited to get to wear his Mario costume to school. I stuck around and took some pictures of him and his class, I would have liked to stay and help but I didn't have anyone to watch Ava and she isn't quite at the age where I could just let her tag along, still to high maintenance LOL!

The kids went trick or treating around the church, and had a parade and then they had the party in the gym/bike room . I got there a little early at the end so I got to see them sing their Halloween songs. Of course Logan's little cubby was full of Halloween goodies from his teachers, Mommy ate a Kit-Kat, don't tell :<)

I Hate High Chairs...

I spent the better half of today working on high chairs.

*First I spent at least an hour looking for the back and the pad for our space saver highchair. I bought it when Logan was almost two to replace our big highchair (which now resides at Grandma's house). I only used it as a high chair for maybe a month and then I broke it down to just the booster seat shortly after Logan's 2nd birthday. You would think I would have put those two pieces away in one of our big tubs of baby stuff, but no I didn't. After searching through all the tubs in the basement, I finally found the pad in a garbage bag on top stuffed in a box that never was unpacked from when we moved three years ago. Of course the plastic back to the chair wasn't in there with the pad, I found that also thrown in a box that was opened but never unpacked. I don't know how those items got where they were...
*Then I bring that and the main seat upstairs. Of course the seat and tray are totally gross from being in the basement for some time and add to that all the junk in the little crevasses that I didn't bother to clean when I put it away equaled a lot of time cleaning. *note to self, please clean high chairs thoroughly before putting away next time*
*Once the space saver seat is together and attached to the chair I moved on to the high chair. Did I mention I really hate cleaning high chairs? Got that thing all cleaned up and the cover in the washer. I made sure to get all the little crevasses clean and I was a good girl and put the cover and the basket that went under it away in the baby stuff tote where it belongs, hopefully I'll find it if I need it again.
*On the bright side, we know have much more room in the dinning room now that we have the leaf in the table and the space saver seat is plastic and much easier to clean, Ava likes her new chair and really likes it when we don't use the tray and let her pull right up to the table.

Check Up Day!

We headed to the doctor today for Logan's 4 year and Ava's 1 year check ups and they both did great despite shots for all of them (I even ended up getting shot).

First Mr. Logan:
He is 42 inches and 42 pounds. For height he is in between the 75% and 90% on the growth curve and 90-95% for weight. Developmentally he is PERFECT he really has come such a long way. Logan also got a fancy eye test, and because there is always something to worry about with Logan, so much as it doesn't really faze us anymore we just expect that there will be something else to deal with when were talking about Logan, he failed the part of the test that detects lazy eye. So we have to get him into a pediatric eye doctor for a better evaluation. Could be nothing or he may need some intervention if he does in fact have a lazy eye starting, which we assume means glasses. I really hope not, but we will know more after we get into the eye doctor. Always something with our little boy I tell ya, but really nothing serious so we are thankful for that. Logan was a brave little boy during his two shots.

And little Ms. Ava:
31 inches and 95% on the growth chart and a whopping 25 lbs and 12oz for weight also 95% for the growth chart and her head circumference is 47 or 48 inches, either way she, like her brother is off the chart in head size, but because we know it runs in the family (thank you Daddy for those genes) and she has no developmental worries, she is really above where she should be for this age, she won't have to go through the neurology evaluation like Logan did. Ava is doing great otherwise, no concerns. Ava had to suffer through 3 shots today and has to go back in a month for her second dose of flu shot since this is her first year getting it, they break it up into two doses over a month. Because she received to live vaccines today (MMR and Chicken Pox) Dad has been banned to Grandma's and Grandpa's for two or three weeks because they are live viruses with those shots and he is on predsione and anti-rejections because of his kidney transplants. The kids will miss Grandpa while he is gone, but we don't want to mess around with him getting sick from those.

And to show the kids I can talk the talk as well as walk the walk I got my flu shot today as well, so nice to be able to just get it done at the ped with the kids (Matt got his at work which works out nice too). So go ahead flu season give us your best we are ready!

Logan goes back when he is FIVE (of course I am sure we will see her before that at a sick visit or two...) and Ava goes back in a month for her flu booster and then again at 15 months!

The Final Party...

Went great! We had a yummy spread including some yummy dips I got from Logan's fundraiser at school and some sushi we picked up from the Japanese market and because we are totally caked out, Matt picked out some pies to have instead and that was a hit! I am so glad our crazy party month is over now and I think in the future Ava's parties will be celebrated at the end of September to make it a little easier on everyone, especially me!

Since Logan is now an expert present opener, he helped Daddy...

And Ava kept everyone entertained...

Another Birthday Party!

At least I didn't have to host this one! We headed out to Dundee today to my Mom's for my youngest brother's 17th birthday. Logan was very excited to see us when we got there, but had a fun time at his sleep over. Mom and Pop ended up taking Logan to the pumpkin farm and he picked out more pumpkins (we now have 7 pumpkins!) and ate some yummy treats and went on a train ride with Grandpa. Of course Grandma forgot her camera (rookie move there Mom LOL!) so I don't have any cute pictures to share.

We hung out and had a wonderful dinner and after my brother opened his presents he want to go to Best Buy right away and get his Zune he was saving for, so all the boys headed to Best Buy and us girls hit the mall. I hit VS to use a gift card I had and then we went into the scrubs store as my Mom and now my sister need to have them for work and wanted to look. I found some white scrub bottoms super cheap so my Mom bought them for me when I start my CNA program in January...very exciting. I also picked out a watch and stethoscope that I liked and I might find them under the Christmas tree at Mom's this year!

Once we all made it home we had desert and hung out some more and then packed up the kids and the van and headed home. Both kids passed out cold before we hit the express way and went right to bed once we got home...always a bonus!

I am off to clean up a bit, tomorrow is Matt's birthday get together and finally the last party I have to host!

Date Night!

Matt and I got out on a date night tonight, it had been awhile and we were need of one for sure!

Logan had MDO today and then I took him out to my Mom's house for a sleepover which he has been asking for and was soooo excited for. I am sure they are having a blast tonight.

Matt's Mom and Dad came out to watch Ava and we headed out to dinner to use a gift card we got last Christmas and hadn't used yet. It was so nice to go out for a nice, quite dinner and spend some non-kid time together. Of course we talked about the kids some, but that's inevitable! We had a fabulous dinner and then headed home to relieve our babysitters.

Ava is fast asleep and we are going to cuddle up to a scary movie now!

My Big Boy!

Cousin Kelly stopped by today with cute place mats she had gotten for the kids, the front has animals on it and their names and the back has some activities to do with a dry erase marker-one of Logan's favorite things to do is trace his numbers in his numbers dry erase book. So he was very excited to see the tracing of the alphabet on the back of the place mat. We found his special marker and he went to work, he was so careful and even erased a couple times to do a letter over so it looked neater. He was very proud of his work, and so was I!

Stollers, Not Just For Baby Dolls...

Ava got a baby doll stroller for her birthday, which she loves and was spending a good amount of time every day putting her dolls in and out and taking them for a ride...too cute!

A couple days ago I found her strolling around with two water bottles in the stroller (twins!), and she took them out, put them back out, pushed them around, etc.

Yesterday I found her pushing around two light up pumpkin necklaces (Hmm twins again, hope that is not some kind of omen...)

Today she has settled on a Wii remote and nun chuck (as in the Wii remote variety, not the ninja weapon)

She cracks me up because she plays with them as if she is putting a baby in and out of the stroller.

What will she stroll with next?

Picture Time!

We got our portraits back for Ava's 1 year and Logan's 4 year pictures from our friend Lance today, and as usual they are super cute! I am now going to over load you with cuteness so hold tight!

First the big 1 year old!

And the big 4 year old!

Matt got in on the action too, he is an October "baby" too. I'm the odd one out, but hopefully are next baby will be a summer and maybe even a July baby so I can have some company!
