While pregnant with Ava I began my love affair with my crock pot, trying recipe's her and there and then after having Ava and wanting to make it up to hubby for all the cooking he did while I was preggo I started making yummy dinners more often in the crock pot (I am not a big cooking person, but I am getting better in my old age) I so love putting all this stuff in, in the morning and then having a yummy dinner waiting at the end of the day. Today we tried a new recipe I found on Food networks site, it actually calls to marinade the pork and cook in the oven, but I wanted to use the crock pot, so I ended up doubling the marinade recipe so there would be more for the pork to cook in all day and cooked in on low for 8 hours. Matt didn't think it would turn out right, but man he was wrong, it was soooooooooo good. A perfect Sunday meal. Here is the link to the original recipe, but I recommend the crock pot it was de-lish!
Ugg today sucked. Matt had to go into work again this Saturday so he could lead stupid tours of the library which means I get to get the kids ready to go by myself yet again. Ava was high maintenance all morning I had to let her cry it out eventually so I could get stuff ready to go. Matt gets home we get the car packed up to head out to my Mom's for bowling and dinner get all the way out to flippin Dundee and Logan pukes up apple in the car just as we get off the express way. Great. So we drop off my Mom's birthday presents and head home because we don't know if he is sick or if he got car sick because he was playing with the Ipod touch all the way out in the car and we don't want to get them sick because they are leaving on vacation next week. He sleeps all the way home, but Ava is upset because now she is hungry. Eventually she falls asleep to and so does Matt, this will be my only peace and quite all day I am sure. We wasted so much gas today it isn't funny by the way. So we get home and other than being crabby (we didn't' get home until 11 last night from Elgin so he was going to be crabby either way I am sure) and having really smelly toots, Logan is fine. Great. So now Matt and I are in bad moods, Logan wants to eat Cheetos and every other crappy food we have in the house, but doesn't understand we need to take it easy on his tummy and Ava little Miss Sassy pants wants constant attention which at this point I have no energy to give. I locked myself up in our room to pump some milk since she still only nurses when she wants to which means I have to pump the rest and make up what I am down in formula...good times. AHHHHH Mommy needs a drink and make it a double!
The birthday celebrations continue as I mentioned before this time a year is crazy with family birthdays. Tonight we are headed out to Matt's older brother's birthday get together. Logan is excited to see his cousin Justin and play with their doggies. Tomorrow we are going out bowling and then out to pizza for my Mom's birthday. Logan is very excited to get to go bowling, he thinks he is a pro since he can get a Turkey no problem on Wii bowling. So a lot of running around this weekend next weekend Matt has to work so we will be able to hang around which will be nice!
My hip is killing me today, I am now only doing PT once a week so we can spread out my visits since insurance will only pay for a $1,000 a year. She my pt added to my home program and then she will kind of evaluate and change things as needed when I see her once a week. She did heat and ice therapy on it on Wednesday which felt great, but man I was hurting once I was home. I really hope this pt helps me some, otherwise I am going to have to go to the doctor and have an MRI or something done, but living in pain is getting old.
We gave Ava her first solids tonight, she looks so pitiful every time she sees us eat and given her fast growth rate her ped said we could start her earlier if she needed it. We gave her oatmeal with some breast milk mixed in and she seemed to enjoy the whole process, although she pushed a lot of it out with her tough, but she will get the hang of it fast I am sure, she loves to eat this one! Here are some pics (I totally forgot to put a bib on her, you would think I've never done this before)
Spent the day with Mom and the kiddies to celebrate her birthday since everyone else was at work or school today, we are going to go out on Saturday with the whole family, but of course she wanted to see her grand kids today so off we went! We hit the mall of course and Grandma bought Ava the prettiest Easter dress, I love it and I can't wait to see her in it!
I had my first PT session tonight for the pain I have had in my hip and the weakness in my back since having Ava. For some reason this pregnancy was really hard on my physically and the recovery was much harder. The hip pain got so bad towards the end of November and beginning of December in that I couldn't walk or sit down because it hurt so much. It got a little better, enough that I got back on the ice beginning of January. My OB had given me a script for PT when I saw him in December, but I wanted to wait to see if it would subside as my body "came back together" from the birth. Well let's just say I have been living with pretty bad hip pain since November and I finally gave in and started the physical therapy.
My PT pretty much confirmed what my OB thought was going on, that the muscles are weak around my hip, muscles that hold the pelvis (which while I was pregnant caused so much pain that I couldn't roll over in bed without tears coming to my eyes) in place. Since the muscles are weak my whole pelvis is weak which makes my back kinda feel like it has to shift into place before I walk anywhere once I stand up, and yes I have been skating through all this pain, but on the ice I don't feel most of the pain, it's afterwards. It's very evident that my trunk and lower muscles are weak as I am having a hard time controlling landings coming out of my jumps.
So I have a bunch of exercises to do at home every day and I go in for therapy twice a week for 6 weeks, and hopefully these exercises will strengthen my muscles up and stabilize my pelvis and I can live pain free again and skate full out again!
A 30 something wife and mom of two. Working as a nursing assistant part-time and back in school (yes again!) to be an RN. Life is crazy right now, but hey it could always be worse.
